Today I absolutely 100% confirmed in my own mind that supplements help improve training performance.
I was in sales meetings and didn't train for two days. Today was the first day back at the gym and in the pool. I also hadn't taken supplements for the past 2 days and wasn't able to take them before doing weights this morning. Specifically Beta-Alanine.
In short, because of not being able to take them I was not able to push the same amount of weight as previous, or if I did have the same weight I wasn't able to do the same amount of reps without total fatigue.
It was such a noticeable difference that I actually felt my weight training session was a waste. I wondered if I was getting the greatest benefit.
There is no doubt the supplements have worked. I have muscles in spots I didn't have them before. I started taking them in Scottsdale and for that month I trained and ate like a Champion and the muscle gains I made were incredible. If I didn't know what I was taking was legal and over the counter I'd swear I was doing something illegal.
Today confirmed that. Supplements work.
Routine is also key...
Alice and I hooked up with Jamie and Barb for lunch today. They are heading to Marco Island in January until April. I'm so jealous. It's so damn cold here. Today was -15 C. It's hard to get motivated to do anything in this weather.
There is also no doubt in my mind that a change in location changes routine and habit. Going to Scottsdale for that month absolutely changed my lifestyle 100%. I ate well, I trained well and I felt great.
I'm back at home and immediately into my old routine and it's bothering me. I don't know why but I'm snacking. I can't stop easily. I'm on the sofa watching TV. For the first time in a long, long time I fell asleep on the sofa. Mind you I was really tired AND I had some Candy and Potato chips earlier.
It's bother me though. Big time. I need a new home routine and figure out how to break my old routine. I'm almost thinking I we should sell our house and buy an new one to change the environment.
